Every few minutes the Airthings sensor of each office measures temperature and CO₂. The league only
looks at working time: Monday–Friday, 07:00–19:00.
Each measurement is classified as in the lab's Sustainability dashboard: sustainable,
uncomfortable or unsustainable. Unsustainable means energy is likely
being wasted: the room is overheated while the heating is on (mid-October to mid-April) or overcooled
while the air conditioning is available (mid-June to mid-September) for how it is being used. In between,
the building has neither heating nor cooling: those days are not counted, and a week without heating or
cooling awards no trees.
Every week the offices are ranked by their share of unsustainable time, lowest first —
only this share counts. The best fifth of the offices gets 5 trees, the next fifth 4,
then 3, 2 and 1. Offices with the same share get the same trees; an office whose sensor sent too few
measurements that week gets none.
A week closes on Saturday morning. Its trees add up over the month, the quarter and the year. The
three offices with the most trees in each quarter, and in the whole year, win a prize.
Offices are anonymous: your office link shows your own results; the other offices appear without
names.
